Are You a Collage?

Chimento Contemporary is proud to present Are You a Collage? an exhibition showcasing the art of Kristofer Heng. Curated by Sionnan Wood.

Born in Monte Nido, California, Kristofer is currently working and living in Washington, D.C. His collages, created from digital and printed images, range in subject matter from beauty, to humor, to political horror, to the mundane. He studied at Fotoskolan i Gamleby in Sweden, and ArtCenter College of Design in California, and has exhibited his work throughout Los Angeles and Sweden.

In this current collection of work, Kristofer encourages the audience to reflect on identity “humorously, strangely, and poetically instead of approaching it with rigidity, intellectual jargon, political -isms or all these together.” The work is all-at-once minimal, funny, reflective, and overt, and it owes its power to Kristofer’s intense sensitivity to the relationship between image, space, shape, and idea.
